Pico Pop

I'm collecting many items, and Pico Pop is one of them. I've recently got this beautiful one from a good friend of mine in the US (Thanks, Jim!). What a great color it is! It is very similar to a Heddon's color, CHT, but the color of eye pupil is different. This lure has become one of my favorites now.

Bass Oreno again

It was comp. day for me today. I went fishing with my old handsome tackle. The earliest ABU Ambassadeur (Rocord) reel, Phillipson M60 rod, some wood lures, and rubber frogs.

Early in the morning, I caught two catfish. It was too bad one of them broke my favorite frog by its teeth.

Then, I kept casting the wood lures. The Southbend Bass Oreno (w/ glass eye, green & gold scale) worked very fine.
When I was taking pictures of this bass, I dropped my Boga Grip (fish-catcher) into water by mistake. I went on back to my car to get my diving mask, and took the water. The depth was about 9-10 feet, but how lucky I was, I could finally located it!

Fishing in highland ponds

I drove long distance, going through three prefectures (administrative areas in Japan), to enjoy fishing in mountainous areas with a good friend of mine. Most of the ponds there has good clear water quality and are surrounded by beautiful trees or grasses.
There are many large ponds there, and we fished from our floating tubes in 4-5 ponds in a row among them. In the first pond, my friend caught a nice bass at daybreak. As you may see, his lure is a famous double-prop bait, Heddon Wounded Spook in XRY color with clear belly.

In another pond, I also caught using a Pico Pop.
In the last pond, it got cloudy and windy and a fat bass came down on my friend's Bass Frog between thick reeds.

Fishing in a different place than usual gives us inspiration and comfort. The trip was so much fun.

Wood lures

Late last night, I found two old beautiful wood lures in my tackle box and wanted to fish with them. Today, I had a chance to go out fishing with them in the evening.

At first, I cast the Zaragossa Jr in Meadow Frog color. I retrieved it from the shore, giving it skating and diving actions. Then, a nice bass blew up on it.

I could also catch a bass with the Smithwick Devil's Horse. I have not been good at this lure with two props, but today it worked very fine.

After I caught this fish, I drove back and grabbed a good cold beer.

Good fight

After a few dog-a-walk actions, my lure (Chugger Spook in XRS) quietly sank into the water, but I could not set a hook hard.

At this spot, I cast another Chugger Spook (NBL) between the trees, then a bass pounced at it. After setting the hook, I tried to start recording, but I was upset and had a hard time to do so immediately.
Enjoy the good fight of the fish, though it was from the midstream.

A 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 lb nice bass.
Today's tackle. W/ABU Ambassadeur 5000C (4-screwed), Fenwick Boron X 953 (custom-built), Stren Golden 12lb.
